Fillout

A step-by-step guide to triggering Zaplane workflows from Fillout submissions.

This guide walks you through connecting Fillout to Zaplane and adding a trigger to a workflow, so your workflow runs automatically whenever someone submits one of your Fillout forms. Unlike WordPress-native apps, Fillout needs an API key and a webhook to be set up first. Let’s go through the process step by step.

Step 1: Get Your Fillout API Key

  • In your Fillout dashboard, click your organization name in the top-left corner, then select Settings.
  • Go to Developer in the settings sidebar, then click Enable API
  • Once enabled, click Copy next to the API Key to copy it.

Step 2: Create a Connection in Zaplane

  • Go to Zaplane > Connections, then click Create credential.
  • Search for and select Fillout from the app list.
  • Paste your API key into the API Key field, then click Save Connection

Step 3: Create a Workflow

  • Go to Zaplane > Workflows, then click Create Workflow.

Step 4: Add a Fillout Trigger

  • Inside the workflow editor, click Select an app under the Trigger box, then choose Apps.
  • Search for and select Fillout, then click Continue

Step 5: Choose the Trigger Type and Connection

  • On the Select tab, open the Trigger Type dropdown and choose Form Submitted.
  • Under Select Connection, choose the Fillout connection you created in Step 2, then click Continue. If you don’t have a connection yet, click Create New Connection to add one right here.

Step 6: Configure the Trigger

  • On the Configure tab, select the Form you want to watch, then copy the generated Webhook Endpoint URL.
  • Go to your Fillout Dashboard, open the form, then go to Integrate > Webhooks, add a webhook, paste the URL, and save it there. Then come back and click Continue in Zaplane.

Step 7: Test and Activate the Workflow

  • On the Test tab, click Test Trigger to confirm it’s picking up the Fillout submission correctly, then click Save.
  • Finally, toggle the workflow to Active and click Update to publish it.

You’re all set

Fillout is now connected to Zaplane. Your workflow will run automatically every time someone submits the selected form.
