The Condition tool lets you split a Zaplane workflow into two paths — one that runs when a check passes (Yes), and one that runs when it doesn’t (No). This guide shows how to add one after a Form Submitted trigger, then attach a different action to each branch (a WordPress Create Post on the Yes side, and a GemCRM Create Contact on the No side).
Step 1: Create a Workflow
Go to Zaplane > Workflows from your WordPress dashboard, then click Create Workflow to open the workflow editor.
Before adding a Condition tool, you need to set up a trigger first. Here is how to do it quickly:
- Click Select an app under the Trigger box, then choose Apps.
- Search for and select your trigger app — in this example, we are using aBlocks Contact Form.
- Choose the Trigger Type that matches the event you want to watch for, then click Continue.
- On the Configure tab, set up any required options, then click Continue.
- On the Test tab, click Test Trigger to confirm it is working correctly, then click Save.
Once your trigger is saved, proceed to the next step to add the Condition tool.
Step 2: Add the Condition Tool
On your workflow canvas, click the + icon next to your trigger to open the Add Action panel, then select Condition from the Tools list.

Step 3: Select “If Condition”
On the Select tab, choose If Condition as the Action Type, then click Continue.

Step 4: Configure the Condition
On the Configure tab, set your Left Value, choose an Operator (e.g., Not Equals), and set the Right Value — map these dynamically from your trigger data. Click Add to include the rule, or OR Group to add alternate conditions. Click Continue when done.

Step 5: Test the Condition
On the Test tab, click Test Action to check the condition against sample data. Once it works as expected, click Save.

Step 6: Add an Action to the “Yes” Branch
Click the + on the Yes path and add the action that should run when the condition passes — this example uses WordPress’s Create Post.

Step 7: Add an Action to the “No” Branch
Click the + on the No path and add the action that should run when the condition fails — this example uses GemCRM‘s Create Contact.

Step 8: Update and Activate the Workflow
Click Update to save your changes, and make sure the workflow status is set to Active. You can view execution results anytime from the Logs.

Your Zaplane workflow now branches automatically — whenever the trigger runs, it checks your condition and follows the matching path, running only the actions on that side.

Done!
Your Zaplane workflow is now set up with a Condition — it checks the rule you configured on every run and automatically follows the matching branch, so only the right set of actions ever fires.
